Sharon is a loving mother of four (one adopted), grandmother of seven, and great grandmother of four! Her life has been rich with family gatherings, cherished moments with her grandchildren, and a deep commitment to her community. Before retiring, she spent over 15 years at Erie County Social Services, where her compassionate spirit touched countless lives, helping families find hope during their most challenging times.
Beyond her family life, Sharon finds joy in listening to music and creating arts & crafts projects. She's
known for her
cooking at family gatherings, where her homemade dishes bring everyone together. Her greatest happiness
comes from watching her great-grandchildren grow and, like any true Buffalonian, cheering on her beloved
Buffalo Bills through every season. With a new kidney, she looks forward to more family meals, creative
projects, and many more game days. GO BILLS!
Sharon has been living with chronic kidney disease for over a decade. Despite careful management with medication and lifestyle changes over the years, her condition has recently and rapidly progressed to stage 5 kidney disease (end-stage renal failure). Her kidney function is now below 15%, requiring her to soon start dialysis.
While the national transplant waiting list for a deceased donor kidney can be 3-5 years or longer, a living donor kidney would give Sharon the best chance at a return to health. A living donor kidney typically functions better and lasts longer than a deceased donor kidney.
"I've spent my life surrounded by family and dedicated to helping others. Now, I'm hoping someone might help me. This isn't about me wanting to be saved—it's about having more time with the people I love, more moments with my grandchildren, more chances to make a difference. If someone could consider being a donor, it would mean the world to me." — Sharon
Your generous consideration could save Sharon's life and give her many more years with her family.
